VGI Groep

The VGI-Groep comprises VGI-Willems and VGI-Promatec. For over 30 years, we have been a supplier of stainless steel products for machinery and equipment building (VGI-Willems) and we translate (complex) engineering issues into operational technical solutions (VGI-Promatec). Under the auspices of the VGI Groep, both companies are the cream of the crop of the manufacturing industry in the Brainport Region.

VGI-Promatec offers total solutions in logistics and product handling systems. With an experienced group of engineers, we are engaged daily in the design, manufacture and commissioning of machines and lines, which are primarily used in the primary processing, processing and packaging of food products.

VGI-Willems is partner in stainless steel mechanical engineering; manufactures, assembles and tests systems for large machinery manufacturers (OEMs). With our modern fleet of machinery and around 100 professionals, we produce and build machines and systems that are supplied to the global industry by our clients. Customer focus and investment in modern production techniques are central to keep providing clients with the best solution.

How it started

In 1990, Johan Willems established his own metalworking business called Willems Machinebouw. At that time, a supplier to OEMs primarily in the packaging industry. In 1997, Marco van Geel came to work at this company as a manager. That same year, Marco and Johan decided to supply stainless steel materials only.

Promatec B.V.

A year later, Marco established Promatec B,V a new company in project engineering, which enabled Johan and Marco to offer the full package, from engineering through manufacturing. In 2001, Johan Willems died suddenly and Marco took over Willems Machinebouw. From then on, there was considerable growth and the range was expanded further to include assembly work. In 2006, the neighbouring building was purchased and the business expanded its production space to 4000 m2. Marco continued investing in production techniques; laser cutting, bending and surface techniques; blasting and staining, specifically for stainless steel.

Continued growth

Because the assembly element continued to expand, there was a need for more space. The solution was to rent a production facility on the same industrial estate, but now at four different locations. Marco realised this situation was unsustainable in the long term and that he had to find a structural solution. This was found in a newbuild at Kempisch Bedrijven Park (KBP) in Hapert. A new company structure was established for this. Van Geel Industrie (VGI) owns the real estate and the operating companies and provides accommodation to VGI-Willems Machinebouw and VGI-Promatec.

Completion of newbuild

The newbuild was completed in 2019. Here is now in excess of 10,000 m2 of production space available, which provides a good basis for continuity, further growth, and a pleasant and healthy workplace for our people!
